Sports coach

Sports coach, Kyogikan dojo, Sheffield, 2009

I have been teaching sport aikido, which is similar to judo, since 2009 when I took over responsibility for running many of the sessions for student members from the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University.

Computer Labs Demonstrator

Undergraduate course, University of Sheffield, Department of Physics & Astronomy, 2011

I demonstrated in undergraduate computer labs during my PhD at the University of Sheffield. The courses were first and second year coding courses, in C and C++, aimed at physicists with no prior experience of coding. I also invigilated several exams in this time, and helped students with coding problems outside of labs.

A-Level Physics & Maths tutor

Secondary education, Sheffield, 2015

I worked as a private A-level tutor in physics and maths in Sheffield, for students at various levels of ability. Mostly, I assisted with teaching the students things that they had not grasped from their lessons, and helped them to understand how to solve homework problems and past exam questions that they were stuck on.

GCSE Classroom Assistant

Secondary education, Newfield School, Sheffield, 2015

Classroom assistant and small groups tutor for students preparing for GCSE exams at Newfield School in Sheffield.

Programming course

Workshop, University of Sheffield, University of Kent, 2015

Under my own business ScienceAble Skills, I designed and delivered a 3-day programming course called CUDA for Scientists. This course was designed to teach the paradigms behind programming in the language CUDA, which allowed for writing programs that executed on Graphical Processing Units (GPUs). Alongside course notes and example code, I provided a custom-built linux server hosting multiple low-spec GPUs that allowed participants to compile and run code during the practical sessions.

Gaussian process summer school

Workshop, Department of Computer Science, University of Sheffield, 2017

Demonstrator at the annual Gaussian process summer school (GPSS).
